Elk Grove Garden Club Constitution and Bylaws
Article I NAME This non-profit organization shall be known as the Elk Grove Garden Club
Article II OBJECTIVES To stimulate interest in flower arranging, gardening, and home beautification. To encourage beautification of your community.
Article III MEETINGS Sect. 1 - Unless otherwise specified, the regular meetings of the Club shall be held at 10:30 a.m. followed by lunch, on the second Thursday of each month, September through June, in a suitable hall. Sect. 2 Each member shall serve on the luncheon committee once during the year. Sect. 3 The telephone committee shall attempt to contact all members prior to each meeting. Sect. 4 Members shall have the privilege of inviting guests and shall notify the telephone committee when doing so.
Article IV MEMBERSHIP Sect. 1 Honorary membership may be conferred upon any person by unanimous vote of those present at any regular meeting when a quorum is present. Sect. 2 The membership is subject to participation and payment of dues. Sect. 3 Written application of new membership shall be made to the club and voted on by a quorum of members present at any regular meeting. A unanimous yes vote of all members present shall constitute approval for membership. Any interested person may apply for membership after being invited to and attending two meetings.
Article V DUES AND FUNDS Sect. 1 The receipts shall ordinarily be from annual dues, the amount of which shall be determined by a vote of those present at the June meeting each year and will be payable on or before the June meeting. Sect. 2 Other receipts will be from infrequent projects whenever the club votes that fund raising programs are desirable.
Article VI OFFICERS AND ELECTIONS Sect. 1 The officers of this club shall consist of: President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer. Sect. 2 A nominating committee shall be appointed by the President in March of each year. The committee shall report in April. An election of officers shall be held in May. The new officers shall be installed and assume their duties at the end of the June meeting.
Article VII DUTIES OF OFFICERS - Sect. 1. The President shall preside at meetings. She shall appoint committees and shall be an ex-officio member of the committees. Sect. 2 The Vice-President shall assist the President, take over in her absence, and be responsible for kitchen supplies. Sect. 3 The Secretary shall take minutes, call the roll, handle correspondence and notify new members when elected to membership. Sect. 4 The Treasurer shall receive and pay out Club funds. She shall keep an itemized account of all receipts and expenditures. All checks must be signed by any two of the following: Treasurer, Secretary, or President.
Article VIII COMMITTEES Sect. 1 The Standing committees shall be: Photographer, Historian, Publicity and Telephone. Sect. 2 The program Chairman will plan varied programs, a balance between gardening, flower arrangements and home beautification. A list of suggested programs may be presented at the June meeting by any members. The program for the year shall be established at the September meeting as shall the dates when members shall serve on the lunch committees.
Article IX QUORUM Sect. 1 One-Half of the active membership shall constitute a quorum.
Article X RULES OF ORDER Sect. 1 Meetings shall be conducted according to Roberts Rules of Order
